The Los Angeles City Council has unanimously voted to approve an office project by Hudson Pacific Properties in Hollywood, Curbed reported.

At 15 stories and 300,000-square-foot size, the development required a change in zoning and an amendment to the city’s General Plan, drawing opposition from anti-density advocates.

The AIDS Healthcare Foundation, the group funding the Neighborhood Integrity Initiative, tried to halt the project on the basis that it would “contribute to the increasing — and unstudied — densification of Hollywood site-by-site,” according to its attorney. The foundation has an office in the area.

“The proposed Project at 5901 Sunset will introduce inconsistency into the land use planning documents for the Hollywood area,” attorney Beverly Grossman Palmer wrote in an appeal.

Another foe of the project was the Silverstein Law Firm, known for fighting the Hollywood Target.

Construction on the building is slated to begin early 2017. [Curbed]Cathaleen Chen
