Like a true investor, billionaire Ronald Burkle just sold his Eastern Columbia loft in one of the priciest residential deals in the submarket — $2.5 million, or $1,244 per square foot.

The penthouse came on the market just two weeks ago and asked $3 million, the L.A. Times reported. Partners Trust’s Kevin Dees and Nick Segal were the listing agents. The buyer was represented by Marty Walker of John Aaroe Group.

Although it has only one bedroom, the three-story unit features ample living areas, including open living and dining rooms, a lounge and a chef’s kitchen. There are also two full bathrooms and a terrace with an outdoor dining area and its own fireplace.

The stylishly contemporary apartment has a range of loft-y essentials, such as concrete floors, exposed ductwork and a steel-frame staircase.

Earlier this week, Johnny Depp sold another penthouse in the building for $2.5 million. He has four more units currently listed. Burkle has quite the real estate portfolio, including the Frank Lloyd Wright-designed Ennis House in Los Feliz. [LAT]Cathaleen Chen
